PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

We are creating varied multimedia to support a campaign to declare our K-6 school a Bottled Water Free Zone. We will be submitting a 5 minute short film to the United Nations World Environment Day (UNWED) Short Film Festival to be held on June 4, 2015 at the AGO. The film is entitled "Get Back to the Tap" and features stop-motion animation, digital animation and live action scenes.  It also has an original soundtrack created by a group of students from Agnes Macphail P.S.

Students in Grades 5 and 6 exhaustively researched the environmental impact of the use of single use plastic water bottles - from the creation of the plastic bottles to the overseas disposal of them.

In June we will be holding a special assembly to declare and celebrate our school's decision to become a Bottled Water Free Zone.

Collaboration!

We were pleased to have two classes - our Grade 5 and 6 classes at Inglewood - collaborate on this project. We also collaborated with the Soundtrack Club of a nearby school, Agnes Macphail P.S. Our film will be shown at the United Nations World Environment Day Short Film Festival on June 4th at the AGO in Toronto - we collaborated with Planet in Focus, our external community organization, to coordinate this.

We would be happy to share our ideas with any school or other organization contemplating the establishment of a BWFZ - feel free to contact us. And don't forget - Get Back the Tap!
