PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Objective - to increase awareness of the negative impact of plastic bags in our environment. 

Teacher reads the book, One Plastic Bag, by Isatou Ceesay.

Discuss how the women of Gambia came up with a solution to reuse the waste of plastic bags and created income for themselves.

Can be done in conjunction with Earth Day on April 22.

Students can video conference with Hartley Outdoor Education Center's program, Junk to Jewelry.

PBL: Students brainstorm and create personalized projects to reduce negative plastic bag impact in their communities.
