PROJECT GOALS:

-To build an awareness of why the monarch butterfly population has decreased

- To develop an awareness of the lifecycle of the butterfly and compare it to their own lifecycle

- Distinguish between the painted lady butterfly and the monarch butterfly

- To learn how to tend and care for a garden

PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

- Students have learned about the lifecycle of the butterfly

- Students are currently observing the painted lady caterpillars as they grow and change

- Students have planted seeds which are beginning to grow, they will be planted in the garden when the weather is warmer

- Students have been weeding and preparing the garden

- Students created a mural of a garden

- Students created butterfly art work
